Brief History of Department

Department of Chemistry is started in the year 1937 in S.R.R. and C.V.R. GDC, Vijayawada since the inception of this college  and our department is one of the oldest departments in this college.

• Department has a built up area of 2856 Sq.ft. with a staff room, 5 spacious laboratories and a store room.

• It is the one of the biggest department in the college with 08 sanctioned posts.

• The department is equipped with research facilities and 06 doctoral faculty, among them one of our faculty got guideship for guiding M.Phil & Ph.D. and four of us acquired UGC-CSIR - JRF.

• The department has Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Open University practical centers for practical examinations.

• The department participate in various extension activities like ‘Soil Health assessment programme, Environment protection programme etc.,

• Department is conducting various knowledge enriching programme like National Seminars, workshops, Quiz programme etc.

• Some of our faculty are members of BOS committees for Krishna University and some other Autonomous colleges.

• Department is started offering UG courses in 1937 and PG courses in 2005.

• Recently department introduced job oriented programme - B.Sc-Horticulture, Chemistry, Botany

• Many of our students got selected in various central universities for PG programmes
