1.Title: Tapping the Latent Talent: An Outcome Based Pedagogy:

2.Objectives: The objectives of this best practice 'Tapping the Latent Talent: An Outcome Based Pedagogy' include that the students gain knowledge by their studious learning of the subjects prescribed and selected by choice and they also acquire practice and skills through their certificate courses, seminars, internship programs, field works, student project works and student workshops etc… All these structured tasks enhance their job skills and employability in a big way for their future career, planning and building.

These activities will impart practice oriented knowledge, skill training, thorough subject knowledge, software and hardware, technical skills, communication and soft skills etc...for success in job competitions.

3. Context: In designing the certificate courses ,seminars, internship programs, field works, student project works, student workshops utmost care was taken in setting the career goals for future.

The best practice 'Tapping the Latent Talent: An Outcome Based Pedagogy' is planned by all the departments in such a way that stands unique in helping the students to acquire subject knowledge as well as job skills while preparing them for future career.

4. Practice: This best practice 'Tapping the Latent Talent: An Outcome Based Pedagogy' strengthens the students with the more learning interests towards subject and practical knowledge, practice in communication skills, soft skills, digital skills, computer skills, software and hardware skills, job skills etc... This training imparted to students enabled them to gain from basic to advanced knowledge with practice in job skills so as to become confident of their planning for future. This best practice 'Tapping the Latent Talent: An Outcome Based Pedagogy' is a similar practice in following the foot steps of our Prime

Minister's Skill India program. This best practice also is successful in fulfilling the objectives of Higher Education in India by thorough knowledge and skill practices.

5.Evidence of Success: The certificate courses, seminars, internship programs, field works, student project works proved successful by training the students in a good number of useful, skill and employment oriented programs. As a result of this the students were able to gain confidence of their future career. This success indicates that the departments of the institution can follow the similar programs for future also in designing and implementing much further useful academic practices.

6.Problems Encountered and Resource Required:To add to this the resources like infrastructure, accommodation and also the funding to meet the contingencies expenditure are required. As of now with the existing and the available resources, the success was made possible.

7.Notes: The organization and implementation of the above programs and their successful outcomes have proved and paved the way to more achievable future practices, for future career building of the students. Best Practice-2

1.Title: “GORUMUDDA”

2.Objectives: S.R.R & C.V.R GOVT Degree College Autonomousis one of the prominent colleges of Vijayawada in terms of its service initiatives to students since its inception. The college always strives to reach out the interests of the economically backward and the marginalized sections through its student beneficiary measures. Thus the college is fulfilling the needs of the students in the best possible way by pooling up student friendly and serviceable resources. Many students of the college hail from the rural and distant places to reach college. This is one of the concerns of the students.

The college after close observations, has planned to take up an initiative to provide breakfast to students, called “GORUMUDDA”. This is an innovative program offering breakfast to the needy students who reach college before 8AM, by giving tokens to get breakfast each day from college canteen to such students. This initiative was started in the college in 2017 and it continued even till today. The main objective of this project is to provide breakfast for the existing students of remote areas. Students from farther places have to start early in the morning. Some students reach exactly on time due to heavy traffic and non-availability of buses and transport. In the past Some students used to miss breakfast and didn’t even have sufficient money to afford for breakfast.

3. Context: The college considered this pathetic situation and decided to provide breakfast for the students through “GORUMUDDA”. The Staff, the Donors, Members of the Walkers Association, Retired Staff members and Philanthropists are consulted, who in return, with their generous and magnanimous heart, contributed and supported this initiative financially. To maintain this program in fair manner, the Gorumudda Committee is formed to register the names of the beneficiaries in college.

4. Practice: A Savings Bank account is also opened in Union Bank of India to deposit the donations for monitoring the accounts. This project has been progressive and at the best service of the students. It has benefited students, in maintaining good health, daily attendance and concentration in subjects taught. There has never been any complaint as it has been monitored by the Principal along with the staff check.

5.Evidence of Success:No other college in Vijayawada has such practice like “GORUMUDDA” as that of this, S.R.R & C.V.R GOVT Degree College is following. This project has been a boon for the students.

Alumni of S.R.R & C.V.R GOVT Degree College also have become the benefactors of this project. There’s a huge amount of contribution from staff members too. Their contribution is supporting this practice. The following information discloses the benefits and statistical facts of this ongoing best practice. Attendance of the students has improved a lot as compared to earlier.

It helps the students to concentrate better on their studies in the class rooms rather than being

fatigue and tiresome. The health of students has been enhanced by nutritious breakfast.

The academic performance of the students also reached the expectations of the teachers.

It made them to be more energetic and healthy. Students have become more disciplined.

A healthy relationship is formed between students and staff. Students learned the value of service.Students feel comfortable in the college.

The objective of the practice “no one goes hungry” is achieved.

6.Problems Encountered and Resources Required: During the covid pandemic the staff and students had online classes. Due to this, Gorumudda Practice was temporarily discontinued during the pandemic. Later this practice has been renewed after the offline classes and blended classes started in college campus.

7. Notes: ‘Goru Mudda’ is the ultimate Program in the college campus, serving needs of hunger of several Students, who are reaching the College from distant places. In the beginning this program was launched by Honourable M L A Sri Bonda Uma Maheswara Rao garu. This program was resumed after pandemic, with the launch by Honourable M L A Sri Malladi Vishnu garu.

Institutional Distinctiveness

It’s true that the healthy mind lives in a healthy body. To meet academic accomplishments students need healthy body and mind. Sports and games help to build physical health, confidence and self-esteem.

Games and Sports inculcate the habits of discipline, responsibility, concentration, memory, creativity, dedication, hard work and team work which enhance the student abilities.

The Physical Education department of SRR & CVR GDC (A), Vijayawada shaped outstanding Sports personalities who had brought laurels to the Nation and to the State in National and International competitions.

2017-18:During 2017-18, S.R.R & C.V.R Government Degree College (A), Vijayawada organized Krishna University Inter collegiate Men and Women Archery Competitions on 29th November 2017. These competitions were held in Compound and Re-curve categories of for the Selections of the Archery teams. Many colleges participated during these Selections. The selected players participated in All India Inter University Archery held at KIIT Bhuvaneswar, Odissa. The students of the college participated in State Level Skating competitions from 17th to 19th December 2017, at Visakhapatnam, conducted by Roller Skating Association in which 36 girl and boy students participated and 15 players came out successfully by winning Silver and Bronze medals in Junior and Senior Categories. And the college students got selected to represent the Krishna University’s Aquatics men team for the academic year 2017-18. Three students of SRR and CVR Government Degree collegewon overall championship by winning Gold, Silver, Bronze medals during the State and National Level Swimming Competitions at Krishna University. The winners represented Krishna University at InterUniversity Swimming Competitions at Chandigarh from 26th to 30th Ocober 2017. Mr. Deepu Visweswar, the student of this college achieved Gold Medal in AP Telangana State Air Wing Competitions, held at Warangal.

2018-19:The International Yoga Day is observed with Yoga practice by involving the students, the staff and the public each year to highlight the importance of Yoga for healthy life. Each year Yoga Day is celebrated on 21st June by extending Yoga practice to all. Also the students participated in trekking by participating in the mountain hiking on 12th August 2018 at Kondapally Hill. The collector of the District Krishna Sri B. Lakshmi Kantham flagged off the trekkers of YHAI for their adventures . SRR & CVR GDC (A), Vijayawada, coordinated the Boat Racing of International Level in Krishna River during the second week of November 2018. The Badminton Competitions were held from 16th to 17th February 2019.

On 17th February, 2019 the college newly built Indoor Stadium was inaugurated by the Sub Collector, District Krishna Ms. Meesha Singh. The KBR Memorial Badminton Competitions for Staff were also inaugurated. Mr.B.Dheeraj, the student of this college won Silver Medal in International Archery Competitions held during Chinese Taipei, Taiwan held from 9th to 12th July 2018. On 29th November, 2018 the SRR and CVR College cricket team stood victorious in Inter- University West Zone Cricket Tourney.

2019-20:Our Kabaddi Team hit double hat trick by winning Krishna University title championship continuously six times without break from 2014 - 2019. And the college Foot Ball Team also won Krishna University Championship for the year 2019.

B. Soujanya I B.A (EPJ), won medal on 30th November in Inter State Karate Championship (women). S.R.R & C.V.R GDC (A), Vijayawada, hosted the Prestigious South Zone Inter University Volley Ball Tournaments (Men), held during the last week 26th to 30th of November 2019. Prominent Universities like Kerala University, JNTU, GITAM, Karnataka State Law University, ANU, Krishna University, Madhuai Kamaraj University, Banglore University and many popular Universities successfully participated with strong team spirit. Hon. HRD Minister Sri A. Suresh Sir, Hon. MLA , Vijayawada Central Sri Malladi

Vishnu Sir, Hon. MLC Dr. A. S. Rama Krishna, Hon. Prof. Dr. Sundara Krishna Sir, V.C, Krishna University, Machilipatnam A.P and many other Special guests congratulated all the teams. SRR and CVR College also hosted the Prestigious State Level AP CM Cup Base Ball Competitions held 16th to 18th December 2019.

2020-21: The student of this college Mr. Manoj Kumar bagged Silver Medal in 40thNTPC Senior National Archery Championship held at Jamshedpur.

Mr. Dheeraj, II B.A got qualified and selected on 24th March, for the World University Archery to be held in China in August 2021.

During the year 2020-21, the students represented various University Inter Collegiate Games and Sports namely Badminton (Men ), Badminton (women), Volley ball (Men), Volley ball (Women), Boxing Men, Aquatics (Men), Yoga (Women), Kabaddi (Men), Basketball (Men), Athletics (Men), Athletics (Women), Foot Ball (Men) and achieved many Gold, Silver and Bronze medals.

2021-22: Mr. Dheeraj, III B.A represented Krishna University and got selected in Archery in Recurve Event to Indian Universities. He participated in World Universities Games which will be held at Chengdu, Chaina held from 21st to 29th August 2021.

One more recent achievement of the college is that Ms. P. Monika, III B.Sc secured Silver medal in All India Yoga Championship held at Puri, Odissa from 14th to 15th May 2022.

In College regular coaching is provided to the students in Volleyball, Table Tennis, Kabaddi, Yoga, Netball, Handball, Cricket, Chess, Netball and in Badminton etc....It also provides an opportunity for the outsiders to go for a walking in the morning in playfield. The walkers formed a Walkers Association and supported in laying the track, in the play ground there by conditioning it and to make it useful for the students for their practices.

The Multi-Gym facility is extended to the outsiders on a nominal monthly fee payment. It also imparts guidance to those who want to enter some government or private services where the physical abilities are compulsorily tested (Example: Sub-Inspector, Police Constables, Railway Khalasis, Physical Education Personnel etc.)

A mini first-aid room for injury management with instruments of electrotherapy like infrared lamp, shortwave diathermy, ultrasound, weighing machine, tape cloth, cotton, tincture sprays were used for the effective treatment of many of the sports injuries and to meet the emergency needs of the injured.

Thus, S.R.R and C.V.R Government Degree College stands unique in its performance and

distinctiveness in shaping the future of students into best sports persons with their achievements in the institution
