English and Foreign Languages cell
The Department of English constituted the English and Foreign Language cell in the academic year 2017-18. It has been organizing certificate courses in French, Arabic and German, Sign Language, and Calligraphy. Dr.D.RajyaLakshmi is the Coordinator of the English and Foreign Languages Cell. The fee structure of these certificate courses is quite serviceable to catering to the needs of students and all sections and categories of people in the society. This initiative has received wide publicity and appreciation and therefore continued as one of the best practices of the institution. Alliance Francais of Hyderabad is certification authority to conduct French Certificate course in our college. German and Arabic certificate courses are conduced by our college. It is also offering Indian sign language from the academic year 2021-22. Many students and some of our faculty got certified in these foreign languages.
SRR College Radio
The Department of English is a part of College Radio where Dr.D.Rajya Lakshmi is its convenor with the members from various departments. Our institution aims at bring out the innate talent of the students with this initiative of SRR College Radio- infotainment. It encourages student participants to exhibit their talent in singing, playing jokes, enacting small role plays, reading news in English, Telugu, Urdu, Sanskrit etc. Many of our students are motivated by our English Faculty and participated in College Radio.
Career Guidance
The Department of English supports the students in shaping and managing their careers by building key ingredients like communication skills, soft skills, interview skills etc.. thus enabling them to become complete professionals. The faculty members give career counselling to students by assessing their strengths, interests and areas of improvement and play a key role in guiding the student to go for employment or opt for competitive examinations towards higher education or jobs. Certificate Course in English for Competitive Exams
The Department of English is offering Certificate course on “ English for Competitive Exams" for the U.G- IV semester students to equip themselves to face Entrance and Competitive exams that test their English language abilities. During the span of 30 hours, students are trained in grammar, writing, interview skills, literary terms, books and authors and vocabulary.
