Profileof the Department of Telugu
Telugu is a Dravidian native language of India. Sree Krishna Devaraya asserts “DeshaBhashalandhu Telugu Lessa”. Telugu language has been praised Italian of the East. It is the fifteenth largest language in the world. Its inscriptional History starts from 575 A.D. It is unique in its literary tradition and cultural heritage. Telugu is the official language for both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana States.
The Department of Telugu has its inception in the year 1937. The Departmenthas highly qualified and well experienced teachers since its inception. The great Telugu writer and poet, Jnanapeeth awardee, Kavisamrat Sri Viswanatha Satyanarayana worked in this department.
The department is offering Telugu as second language for all UG courses and B.A. Special Telugu also. M.A Telugu Course was Started in the academic year 2019 - 2020. The department also offering certificate courses in light music and Telegu Introductory course.
